HU President discusses further collaboration with Stiftung Kinderchirurgie, Germany.

Dr. Ayano Beraso, President of Hawassa University, received a visiting team from Paediatric Surgery Foundation(Stiftung Kinderchirurgie), Leipzig, Germany to discuss further collaboration on human and material capacity building schemes of the paediatrics unit at the university's Comprehensive Specialized Referral Hospital, on September 8/2023 at his office.

The team from Paediatric Surgery Foundation, led by Prof. Dr. Martin Lacher and Dr. Wondimagegn Gizaw, has concluded a one week campaign of paediatric surgery at HUCSRH when they met with president Dr Ayano Beraso.

During the meeting, they discussed ways to go with regard to finishing two operation theatres for paediatric surgery at HUCSRH, supporting the hospital staff with fellowship opportunities, and improving the capacity of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which is under construction at the moment. The foundation has already contributed a €1,000,000 to establish the best paediatric operations unit in the country.

The President of HU has sincerely expressed his gratitude for the foundation for choosing his university and hospital to collaborate with. He also promised to follow up the progress of their project and assist in anyway necessary to complete the unit within the planned time frame and standard.
