A team of researchers from California University Visit HU.

President of Hawassa University, Dr. Ayano Beraso, received a team of researchers from California University, USA, to discuss possibilities of collaboration on research capacity building projects. The President welcomed the visiting scholars and elaborated on the rich experience of Hawassa university with regard to successful execution of collaborative projects with both local and international partners.

Dr. Emebet Bekele, Director General of OERC at HU, presented a brief university profile focusing on research priority areas for collaboration and partnership aligned with the long-term strategic plan of Hawassa University.

Dr. Tafesse Matewos, Vice President for RTT at HU, on his part assured the researchers that Hawassa University is highly commited towards establishing a reliable institutional partnership with California University to work on issues of mutual interest. He remarked that HU is transitioning to an autonomous research university where the priority lies in strengthening research capacity in selected areas of excellence.

The visiting researchers were also excited to know that it will be great to work with Hawassa University as they said they are here to look into the potentials of establishing a research center and more. After assessing the possibilities, they remarked that there will be institutional procedure to go with the the plan at the onset of 2024, especially to work on public health and socioeconomic challanges such as malaria.
