Two Hawassa University research teams presented their research projects at a Project Launching workshop organized by Cordaid Ethiopia yesterday, 26 July 2023 in Addis Ababa.
The research projects funded by The EU RESETPLUS Innovation fund investigate Innovations implemented by various presenters in Afar, Amhara, Oromia, SNNPR and Somali regions of Ethiopia .
HU teams won two out of five projects after competing with 43 Universities and seven research centers based in Ethiopia that bade for the call for proposals by Cordaid Ethiopia.
Dr. Tafesse Matewos, Vice President for Research & Technology Transfer at HU and Mr. Zarir Merat, Cordaid Ethiopia Country Director penned down the agreements to execute the two research projects within the next three months.
Dr Mulye Girma from the Department of Sociology and Dr Melisew Dejene from Institute of Policy & Development Research (IPDR) and Department of Journalism led the two research teams who won the respective projects on "Approach to the Enhancement of Ownership of Community Assets to Reduce Inefficiencies in the Use of Assets", and "Women, Youth Empowerment Initiatives, and their Contribution to Resilience Building", Innovation4resilience.
