Delegates of Embassy of USA Addis Ababa and HU Representative’s Discussions on Collaborative Academic, Research and Capacity Building Programs.
Delegates from USA including the Ambassador of the Embassy of the United States of America Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and representatives made an official visit to Hawassa University and made constructive meetings with the representatives of the University.
The major aim of the visit and meeting is to strengthen already existing partnerships of Hawassa University with the respective institutions of the delegates of USA and explore new horizons for future engagements towards building robust collaborative academic, research and capacity building projects.
The Embassy of the United States of America Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Excellency Ambassador Geeta Pasi and the delegates were warmly welcomed by the President of Hawassa University, Dr. Ayano Berasso and the Vice Presidents of the University, after which discussions were held on the potential areas of partnerships between Hawassa University and the academic and research institutions from the USA.
The President of HU, Dr. Ayano stated that the overall mission of Hawassa University is to produce skilled and competent graduates and serve the community by providing relevant and quality education, conducting research, and transferring technology. President Dr. Ayano informed the delegates about Hawassa University’s active partnerships and collaboration with various international research institutes, and universities from USA with the objective of building HU's capacity in education, research and community services. Further, Dr. Ayano mentioned that Thanks to collaborative projects undertaking with institutions from USA, the university has been serving different community by conducting a vast number of research activities that make it unique in addressing the critical problems of the community in Ethiopia. And also Dr. Ayano stated that Hawassa University has been providing different programs to international students, particularly to neighboring nations for a very long time.
In their turn, Ambassador, Excellency Geeta Pasi and the participants forwarded opinions and future areas of collaborations on academic, research and capacity building projects which have been well explained by the representatives of Hawassa University.
At the conclusive phase of the meeting, both sides recalled the already existing partnership frameworks and applauded the success stories registered. In line with what has been achieved, Hawassa University Representative and Embassy of USA Addis Ababa and delegates pledged to explore more opportunities for future strong networking and collaboration to register even more success.
