Hawassa University Referral Hospital from Addis Ababa University, Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital, he has been carrying out Cardiothoracic Surgeries that has reduced referral of cases to Addis Ababa from Southern Ethiopia.

To mention few things about Dr. Siyasebew, he has graduated from Hawassa University College of Medicine and Health Sciences 12 years ago, and he served as general practitioner for two years in Referral Hospital of Hawassa University. He has got an opportunity to study Specialty in General surgery in University of Gondar for four years. He completed the training with distinction by scoring the highest grade among the batch and awarded the yearly best award granted to best performing resident in that year. Upon being certified as a general surgeon he came back to serve his mother institution (Hawassa University) for more extra years. Two years back the department of surgery decided to send among the staff members for training in cardiothoracic surgery subspecialty at Addis Ababa University, Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital and he became the first and the only one to get enrolled into this training program. Before the decision for this training came into practice, patients had been sent to Black Lion Hospital, the only cardiothoracic surgery center available in the country with significant burden for the patients and demanding cost.

As per Dr. Siyasebew Cardiothoracic Subspecialty focuses on General Cardiac Surgical procedures, surgeries with problems related to the Lung, Mediastinum, Esophagus and Vascular surgeries.

As the demand of patients who need these types of Surgeries is enormous in our setting and generally in Southern Ethiopia as a whole, practicing this field is very relevant and can have a significant impact in reducing referral of those cases to Addis Ababa from Southern Ethiopia, which most patients had been suffering for years. Since the last two weeks of his arrival to Hawassa referral Hospital, he has been carrying out Cardiothoracic Surgeries. He has been operating by using his month off time which he was supposed to rest in the middle of the training, but he decided to come back and help those poor patients in need of my hands, and feel blessed. Till now he and his team are able to operate more than ten patients, most of whom cannot afford to get treatment anywhere else and waiting for their life to an end. Surgeries are successful and patients are going home cured of their disease, and still surgery is going on in Hawassa University Referral Hospital.

የሀዋሳ ዩኒቨርሲቲ የህክምናና ጤና ሳይንስ ኮሌጅ ቀድሞ ተመራቅ (አልሙኒ) የሆነው በዩኒቨርሲቲው ሪፈራል ሆስፒታል የቀዶ ህክም አገልግሎት ሰተዋል፡፡

የሀዋሳ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ቀድሞ ተመራቅ (አልሙኒ) የሆነው ዶ/ር ሲያበዉ ማሞ ይባላል፡፡ ቀድሞ ከተመረቀበት ሀዋሳ ዩኒቨርሲቲ በመምጣት ቀዶ ህክምና ስራን በማከናወን እስካሁን ከ10 በላይ ለሚሆኑ የደረት ዉስጥ ችግር፤ የሳንባ እና የጎሮሮ ካንሰር ለሚሰቃዩ ታካሚዎች የተሳካ ቀዶ ህክምና ማከናወን ችሏል፡፡

ዶ/ር ሲያበዉ ከዛሬ 12 ዓመታት በፊት ከሀዋሳ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ህክምናና ጤና ሳይንስ ኮሌጅ በመጀመሪያ ዲግሪ ከተመረቀ በኃላ በጎንደር ዩኒቨርሲቲ ህክምና ኮሌጅ በአጠቃላይ ቀዶ ህክምና ስፔሻሊቲ ዘርፍ ተመርቂዋል፡፡ በአሁኑ ጊዜ በአ/አ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ህክምናና ጤና ሳይንስ ኮሌጅ በጥቁር አንበሳ ስፔሻላይዝድ ሆስፒታል በልብና በደረት ዉስጥ ቀዶ ህክምና ስፔሻሊቲ ላይ እየሰራ ይገኛል፡፡ ዶ/ር ሲያበዉ የሰለጠነበት ስፔሻሊቲ ዋና ትኩረቱ በአጠቃላይ ቀዶ ህክምና የሚያስፈልጋቸዉን የልብና ተያያዥ የደም ስር ችግሮችና የሳንባ የደረት ዉስጥ እጢ እንዲሁም የጎሮሮ ካንሰር እና ተያያዥ ችግሮች ናቸዉ፤በሀገራችን ህክምናዉ ከተጀመረ አጭር ጊዜ ሲሆን ይህዉም እስካሁን ባለዉ በብቸኝነት አገልግሎቱ የሚሰራዉ በጥቁር አንበሳ ሆስፒታል ብቻ ነዉ፡፡ ለሀገራችን አዲስ ህክምና ከመሆኑም በላይ በዚህ ዘርፍ የሰለጠኑ ባለሙያዎች ቁጥራቸዉ በጣም ከፍተኛ የሚቆጠሩ ከመሆኑ ጋር ተያይዞ በርካታ ታካሚዎች ህመማቸዉ ሳይታወቅላቸዉ እና በአግባቡ አስፈላጊዉን ህክምና ሳያገኙ ለከፋ ስቃይ እና ሞት ተዳርገዋል፡፡

ከቅርብ አመታት በፊት ይህንኑ ክፍተት በመገንዘብ የሀዋሳ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ህክምናና ጤና ሳይንስ ኮሊጅ ማናጅመንት በዚህ ስፒሻሊቲ ላይ ባለሙያ ለማሰልጠን ከቀዶ ህክምና ት/ት ክፍል በቀረበለት ጥያቄ ፤ እና ይህንን ተከትሎ በወሰደዉ ትክክለኛ አቋም መሰረት ዶ/ር ሲያበዉ  በዚህ ዕድል ተጠቃሚ መሆን ችለዋል፡፡ በአሁኑ ሰዓት በአ/አ/ዩ ህክምናና ጤና ሳይንስ ኮሌጅ፤ በጥቁር አንበሳ ሆስፒታል በዚህ ስፔሻሊቲ የዕጩ ተመራቂነት ደረጃ ላይ ይገኛል፡፡

የቀረውን ጥቂት ጊዜ አጠናቆ ስመለስ አጠቃላይ እንደ ሀገር፤ ማለትም በደቡብ ኢትዮጵያ ለመጀመሪያ ጊዜ ከሀዋሳ ዩኒቨርሲቲ ህክምናና ጤና ሳይንስ ኮሌጅ ሪፈራል ሆስፒታል ይህንን አገልግሎት የሚሰጥ ይሆናል፡፡ በመሆኑም፤ በርካታ ታካሚዎች ሕክምናዉን ለማግኘት ወደ አ/አ የሚያደርጉትን ጊዜ፤ ከፍተኛ እንግልት እና ተጨማሪ ወጪ በከፊል ቢሆንም የሚቃለል ይሆናል፡፡

ለዚህም ማሳያ የሚሆነዉ በቅርቡ ባለው የአንድ ወር እረፍት ጊዜዬውን በመጠቀም ካለፉት 15 ቀናት ጀምሮ ይህንኑ ቀዶ ህክምና ስራን በማከናወን እስካሁን ከ10 በላይ ለሚሆኑ የደረት ዉስጥ ችግር፤ የሳንባ እና የጎሮሮ ካንሰር ለሚሰቃዩ ታካሚዎች የተሳካ ቀዶ ህክምና ማከናወን ተችሏል፡፡ ይህ ቀጣይነት ባለዉ ሁኔታ ሚሰራ ይሆናል፡፡

ዶ/ር ሲያበዉ እንዳሉት ከዚህ ጋር ተያይዞ ወደፊት ህክምናዉን በስፋት ለሕብረተሰቡ ለማዳረስ በሚያደርገዉ ጥረት ተጨማሪ የሰዉ ሀይል ማሰልጠን፤ አስፈላጊ የሆኑትን የህክምና መሳሪያዎች ግብዓቶችን በማቅረብ የኮሌጁ እንዲሁማ የዩኒቨርሲቲዉ ማናጅመንት አካላት አስፈላጊዉን የቅርብ ድጋፍ እና ክትትል እንዲያደርጉ ጠቁመዋል፡፡

በመጨረሻም እስካሁን ባከናወናቸዉ ቀዶ ሕክምናዎች፤ ሁኔታዎችን በማመቻቸት፤ አስፈላጊዉን ትብብር እና አስተዋፆ ላደረጉት ለሆስፒታሉ ቺፍ ኤክሲኩቲቪ ዳይሬክተር (ዶ/ር አንተነህ ጋዲሶ)፤ በአጠቃላይ የኦፕራሲዮን ክፍል ስታፎች፤ ሬኢዲንቶች እና የቀዶ ህክምና ስታፎችን እና በጥቁር አንበሳ ሆስፒታል ዉስጥ ላሉ ሜንቱሮቼ አመስግነዋል፡፡
