Amb. Dr. Markos Tekle gives Public lecture at Hawassa University.

College of Law and Governance in collaboration with office of Vice President for Research &Technology Transfer, HU, organized a public lecture by his Excellency Amb. Dr. Markos Tekle Rike, Deputy Head of Mission at the Ethiopian Embassy in Juba, South Sudan, on the theme, "Grand strategy in the changing world: Analyzing the Complexities and Adaptations in Modern Geopolitics", on June 7, 2024 at AU Hall.

Dr. Emebet Bekele, Director General at OERC of HU, briefly presented a short biography of the ambassador where she mentioned that he served as Ethiopian Ambassador to Japan and Egypt. He also served as State Minister for Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as Executive Director of the Foreign Service Training Institute. Dr. Markos also worked as a Lecturer and Dean of the College of Social Sciences at Hawassa University before joining the foreign service.

In his lecture, Dr. Markos broadly explained the historical development and role of 'Grand Strategy' in the comprehensive national planning indicating its importance and prospects for Ethiopia to design and implement successful grand strategy. He also boldly indicated the overall influence of grand strategy in the changing global structure, technological advancement, environmental and nontraditional influences and cultural and ideological influences. In addition he has indicated the determining force of grand strategy on military, economic, diplomatic, information, domestic and foreign policy strategies at large.
