We are delighted to welcome you back as you begin a new chapter of learning, growth, and achievement. We hope your vacation gave you the required rest and renewed energy which you need to return with fresh determination and greater ambition.
This year (2026/27) is especially meaningful as we celebrate 50 Golden Years of our higher education—five decades of knowledge, service and achievement. You are not only part of this historic celebration; you are part of the story that will shape the next 50 years.
As you begin your studies, remember that success does not come by chance. It is built through hard work, discipline, and a commitment to excellence. You need to work consistently, support one another, and never underestimate what you can achieve through dedication.
Let us make this academic year a year of purpose, progress, and excellence.
Welcome back, and let us make our Golden Jubilee year truly unforgettable!
Happy 50th Golden Jubilee!
Dr. Eng. Fisiha Getachew, Academic Vice President, Hawassa University.
