Hawassa University (HU), Mekelle university (MU), and Norwegian Church Aid (NCA) Ethiopia have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a tripartite operational framework designed to bridge academic research with real-world impact.
The agreement was signed by Mrs. Margrethe Volden, Country Director of NCA Ethiopia, Dr. Tafesse Matewos, Vice President for Research and Collaboration at HU, and Dr. Fana Hagos, President of MU.
Key Priorities of the partnership are:
1. Evidence-Based Field Impact: Translating academic research directly into actionable, community-level development models;
2. Capacity Enhancement: Strengthening the institutional capabilities of HU, NCA, and local operational partners;
3. Climate & Social Resilience: Co-designing targeted initiatives to build adaptive capacity in high-vulnerability communities; and
4. Resource Mobilization: Co-designing joint funding applications and pooling strategic resources for sustainable development.
