A team of academic staff and students of Giessen university in Germany visited Hawassa university through the mobility program in the longstanding partnership between the two universities.
Prof. Tesfaye Semela, Director of IPDR at Hawassa university, warmly welcomed the visitors at his officd where he presented a broader introduction of Ethiopia, from its population, linguistic, ethnic and religious diversity to its history, economy, geography and political structure. He also addressed the achievements and challenges faced and how the country go about redressing them against the background of the looming geopolitical developments in the Horn of Africa.
Dr. Emebet Bekele, Executive Director of Public and International Relations at HU, also welcomed the team and elaborately introduced Hawassa university's historical journey from its foundation to its transitional efforts to an autonomous research university, experiences in international partnership and successful executions of international collaborations.
The team led by Professor Ingrid Miethe had a mission of cultural and academic experience sharing as part of the collaboration between the universities.
