EU-Supported Academic Mobility Delegates visit Hawassa University

A distinguished team of experts from the Intra-Africa Academic Mobility Scheme supported by the European Union held discussion with Hawassa university leadership to explore new opportunities for African students and faculty taking lessons from past experiences.


The university top leadership, Dr. Eng. Fisiha Getachew, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Tafesse Mathewos, Vice President for Research and Collaboration, showcased the university's "transformational journey," highlighting that HU currently runs 124 international collaborative projects. The vice presidents explained, in details, how and why Hawassa University prioritizes partnership as one of its pillars over the years.



Similarly, Dr Shimelis Nigatu, Director for Collaborative Projects Coordination at HU, made a brief presentation on the institutional readiness and implementation practices of collaborative projects at Hawassa University highlighting the volume and impacts of the collaborative projects recorded in recent years.


Dr. Melisew Dejene also gave an inside look at the FRAME Project, discussing how academic mobility is changing lives through research and knowledge transfer.


The visiting delegation—including higher education experts Mrs. Huba Boshoff (South Africa) and Professor Patricio Langa (Mozambique)—expressed that they were deeply impressed by Hawassa University’s institutional commitment to partnership and internationalization and its readiness for future large-scale collaborative projects.
