Hawassa University is pleased to announce the establishment of ICT Business Incubation Centre in collaboration with European Union through Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD). The centre assists those with clever business ideas, but with limited business knowledge.
The centre assists those with clever business ideas, but with limited business knowledge. The Incubation Centre's service targets the growth of small and medium-scale ICT businesses in Hawassa city and the surrounding areas thereby promoting ICT-enabled economic growth in Ethiopia. This Centre will provide necessary incubation services and facilities including trainings and mentoring services for young people and women ICT entrepreneurs. More specifically, the incubation services include:
A compnay should have a member of three-to-five and be registered as SME at city SME department before joining to the Centre. Applicant(s) should be recent university graduate in the field of Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related fields. Where there is more than one person involved in developing the business idea or founding the business, applicants are encouraged to make at least 50% of the founders of the business from Hawassa University graduates.
Hawassa University reserves the right to disqualify any applicant whose business idea or any part thereof, is contrary to University policy, public policy or morality, or contravenes any law of Ethiopia, or otherwise may be considered to bring Hawassa University into disrepute.
Priority is given to envisaged business solutions development (software and database) companies/businesses that will be based in Hawassa city. Application should also be submitted using the formats prepared by Hawassa University.
The completed application form should be submitted to Hawassa University ICT Centre by the published deadline. Applications which are received in any other format will not be accepted. Female applicants are highly encouraged and given priority in the process.
