BEE is among the eight academic departments in institute of Technology. It runs two bachelor degree and two graduate programs. The programs are the only of its kind in the country.

OBJECTIVES OF THE DEPARTMENT

Under the umbrella of the university the department has the following objectives:-

a)    Degree programs

  1. Produce high level of man power with a considerable knowledge of engineering & skills capable of undertaking the responsibility of solving agricultural problems with respect to:-    Biosystems Engineering  
  • The management of farm power and machinery
  • The design & production of appropriate tools & farm implements
  • Identification, design & implementation of both small scale & large scale irrigation schemes.
  • Post harvest processing of both plant & animal products
  • The planning & construction of simple & less heavily loaded farm structures.

Environmental Engineering- Produce high level of man power with a considerable knowledge of engineering and skills capable of undertaking the responsibility of solving environmental problems with respect to

  • Protection of water, air and land
  • Treatment of water and wastewater
  • Design of environmentally friendly structures
  • Environmental impact assessment
  • Planning environmental law

b)   Master of Science

Water Resource Engineering and Management

  • Design and Development of water resources
  • The appropriate technologies in sustainable use of water resources, protection of environment, rehabilitation of degraded land
  • The effective and efficient use of scarce water resources focusing on improved water productivity
  • The rural and urban water supply and sanitation
  • The technologies to conserve water resources and harvest water resources for their subsequent use in dry spell periods and dry climates

Soil and Water Conservation Engineering

  • Promote appropriate technologies in sustainable use of land resources, protection of environment, rehabilitation of degraded land
  • The effective and efficient use of scarce soil and water resources focusing on improved water productivity and soil conservation
  • design and develop soil and water conservation technology
