National research conference at Hawassa University

Hawassa University, College of Natural and Computational Science organized the first national research conference under the theme of Science Research for Economic Development Transforming Research Results and Traditional knowledge into practice from May 3-4, 2018 at African union hall.

Dr. Eng. Fisiha Getachew, Academic vice president, Hawassa University, in his opening speech said that the conference has great opportunities for researchers to present their scientific contributions and share experience so as to identify gap areas for further research and to bring comprehensive results to pave way for future wellbeing of the human being.

Dr. Zeyitu Gashaw , Dean College of Natural and Computational Science  said that by now the college is   working so hard to tackle many of the issues and it focuses on thrust areas of research in various disciplines such as, Biological science , physical science ,sport science, earth science and Mathematical sciences. To this end, the university is on the move to start new post graduate (MA& PhD) programs to build capacity among the future generation of Ethiopia.



He also said that, the college is very much in line to develop scientific tempo among its faculty members and post graduate students. Different researches to be performed by the faculty members are increasing from year to year and newly proposed problem solving and participatory research proposals on various technological issues are on the ladder.

About 37 impressive research papers were contributed by researchers of different universities in Ethiopia and 17 national universities and research centers participated. Internationally recognized lifelong researchers; Professor Yalemtsehay Mekonnen and Professor Tenalem Ayenew shared their encouraging experiences for the participants.
