Seven defended their PhD at HU in novel areas for the University as well as the nation

One of the pioneer Colleges of the University, College of Natural and Computational Sciences witnessed successful PhD dissertation defenses for three in applied mathematics for the first time for HU and four in applied Statistics for the first time in Ethiopia. Realized through collaborative engagements with Norway in HU-PhD-Math-Stat-Sci project this is a milestone for both the University and the nation as beautifully described by world class leaders in the areas through their congratulatory messages to the candidates and their institution read on the dinner party last date.

The dissertations of the graduates were entitled:

$11.       Tadele Tesfa Tegene: Mathematical Modeling on the Transmission and Dynamics of HIV/AIDS Epidemics

$12.       Dechassa Obsi Gudeta: MULTIVARIATE MODELING OF DYNAMIC ECONOMIC TIME SERIES DATA IN CASE OF ETHIOPIA

$13.       Negusse Yohannes Sebro: PERFORMANCE AND PROGRESSION  OF PRIMARY SCHOOL PUPILS IN ETHIOPIA:  MARKOV AND MULTILEVEL MODELS FOR LONGITUDINAL AND CROSS SECTIONAL STUDIES

$14.       Denekew Bitew Belay: Bayesian Hierarchical Models to Discover Structure in Malaria and Population Mortality Data

$15.       Markos Abiso: Modeling of Longitudinal and Time-to-Event Measurements: Applications to HIV/AIDS and Hypotension Data

$16.       Mohammed Yiha Dawed: Mathematical modeling on species systems and harvesting renewable resources

$17.       Tsegaye Simon: Numerical simulation study of system of time-dependent advection – diffusion-reaction equations describing river pollution

Head of the project is Prof. Henning Omre - Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), Norway and partner Professors are: Prof. Arnoldo Firgessi - University of Oslo,
Prof. Anne  Kværnø - Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU),
Prof. Harald - Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and Prof. Johan Open - Molde University College.

Together with three from College of Agriculture who defended their PhD few months back this year we graduated 10 PhD graduates last Saturday, July 01 / 2017, the largest number for HU, along with over 7,800 who will graduate in various degrees and disciplines this year.
