Hawassa rated the best city of the nation for the 5th time

Hawassa city is rated the best city in Ethiopia once again at the Gonder 7th Ethiopian Cities Forum last April, 2017! According to The Ethiopian Herald, President Dr. Mulatu Teshome said on the forum that the effective federal system, feasible and participatory economic strategy as well as a conducive investment environment in the country have given impetus to the advancement of outstanding cities and the emerging ones. The president also added that city growth is an engine to create more jobs and to support flourishing of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The 7th National Cities Forum was opened with theme: "Sustainable Urban Development and Good Governance for Ethiopia's Renaissance," and lasted for seven days.

More than 230 local cities' representatives including Montgomery city from Ohio State took part in the forum.

Out of the seven competitions it is amazing that Hawassa City became top in five including this year and Hawassa University was one of the major components the city exhibited at Gondar. Presenters from HU included novel technologies some of which already secured patents, the various University activities and more.

The University would like to recommit for working more closely with the city and all partners in order to ensure the national ambitious growth and transformation agendas!
