Study Program Description

The aim of the program is training of competent professionals who can manage health services and programs at the Woreda/district, regional and national levels; teach in public health training programs at various levels; and undertake public health research that encourage evidence-based interventions and policy. At all levels of training emphasis will be given on acquiring relevant knowledge and skills in the context of developing country settings.

The following will be addressed to achieve the mentioned aims: Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Health Service Management, Priority Public Health Programs, Public Health Nutrition, Reproductive Health and Population Studies, Health Promotion and Communication, Environmental Health and Research work and Thesis writing.

Environmental Health

Environmental Health Program

The main study level:

Bachelor
Entry Requirement:
  • students required to have completed their preparatory education and meet entrance criteria set by Ministry of Education
  • Medically fit
  • and preferably candidates shall come from Natural Science Background.
Study Program Description

The program aims to strengthen the existing modularized curricula (Implementation and revision) with great emphasis to learner-centered and continuous assessment.

The academic programs should also enhance problem solving skills by creating conductive teaching and learning environment such as classrooms, libraries, workshops, demonstration sites, and laboratories and ICT services which are user friendly and comparable to national and international minimum standards.

The following issues area addressed Basic Health Science, Environmental Science and Technology, and Community Health courses to equip and make students competent in their profession. In addition, knowledge on communication basic computer applications, civic rights and morality, sociology and anthropology which enable the learner to work in diverse cultural context are important in public health practice.
