BiographyEden Mengistu Daba (PhD) Director, School of Environment, Gender and Developmental Studies as of September 2011. She is one of the most senior staff members of the School. Has Got PhD degree in Home Economics Education from the University of the Philippines Dilliman in 2004. Bachelor of secondary Education Major in Technology and Home Economics from Adventist University of the Philippines may 2001. Diploma in Women, Extension Workers and Agriculture, Larnestine Deventer, Nederland June 1992 and Diploma in Home Science and Technology, Awassa College of Agriculture, Addis Ababa University 1980. |

Areas of Research / Teaching ExpertiseHer Research interest is mainly focused on Food Security, family, and Gender related issues. Her teaching Expertise is Project planning, household resource management, Income generation, seminar and family related courses. |

Nigatu Regassa (PhD)

|
BiographyBorn in 1974 in Addis Ababa from his mother Debritu Kidane and father Regassa Geda. He attended primary school at Hope Enterprise Private School, Junior High School at Yemane Birhan, completed high school at Addis Ketema Comprehensive Secondary School. He joined Addis Ababa University in 1992 GC and completed Bachelor of Arts Degree in Educational Psychology as Major and Geography as minor fields of studies in 1996. The same year, he joined the then Awassa College of Agriculture as Graduate Assistant. Earned masters of Science degree in Demography from Addis Ababa University in 2001, and then pursued PhD studies in Population Studies at the International Institute for Population Sciences, Mumbai in 2003-2006. He is currently working as full time teaching and research staff of HU with Associate Professor academic rank. He has served the university in many academic administrations including: Assistant Dean of Students (1996-1999), Department head of Rural Development and Family Sciences (2001-2003):Head of Hotel management (2003, six months); HU CDED coordinator (2006-2007); Associate Vice President for Academic Programs (2008-2010); now Acting vice president for Academic and Research Affairs. |

Prior to that he worked as a Livelihood Officer in an International NGO and as a Socioeconomic Researcher in a public research centre. He studied MA in Development Studies (Rural Livelihoods and Development) at Addis Ababa University and BSc in Agricultural Science at Haramaya University. |
